Per the Bendix/King Pilot’s Club Newsletter dated March 25, 2011, the KMD-540 has been rendered obsolete. According to the newsletters, Honeywell is working to design a suitable replacement. The kmd 540 is a multi function display that utilizes a 5 diagonal armload to display a detailed moving map using data from the front loading data card. During power up and normal operation, the kmd 540 will test for the presence of a valid data card. Mk vi this unit complies with ts c151 class b for terrain warning devices.
